Recent Aston Maui Banyan Review: "Rate was similar to another hotel we stayed at nearby which was right on the beach, with a store and restaurant/cafe/bar at the hotel. this place did not offer those things nor was there a laundry facility for the single rooms. This place did have condos for sale, and I would recommend these to the gariatric community. The people were friendly, and the bed was comfy, but I would categorize it as a place to sleep and not a resort."

The 11-acre hotel's landscaped grounds include a tennis court (reservations required; surcharge for equipment) and two freeform splash pools, each with a large sundeck and spa tub. Gas barbecues and picnic pavilions are adjacent to the pools.

Kihei’s beaches—Kamaole, Keawakapu, Kihei, and Mai Poina—are good for walking, swimming, and windsurfing. Makena Beach, south of Kihei, is aptly nicknamed the Big Beach.
