This "hotel" is located near property that is owned by another owner. Due to political issues on the island, the other owner has shut down the golf course, the restaurants, the gift shop, the swimming pool, etc. Surrounding buildings are neglected -- all to punish the locals for not going along with their plans to build yet another resort on the island (not enough fresh water). In addition, these property owners have closed down the movie theater and other places on the island for visitors to enjoy (not to mention the locals). Very sad. The island however is very nice and the people are exceptionally nice.

The hotel is under construction, but the noise is very small. The hotel does not have food at it, but the drive to the store is wonderful. The whole island is only 37 miles wide, so the nearest store is only 12 miles away. The view and the sunsets are amazing. We will be returning to the island and staying at the CASTLE KALUAKOI VILLAS again and again. The people of this island are so friendly. Don't forget to visit the little towns and shops there. A great on is called 2nd Chance, What a wonderful owner (Theo)

This hotel is closing down, and half of the resort is already a ghost town. The room was however in good shape, and the surrounding area is beautiful.

The hotel's location is amazingly beautiful. The beaches are both quiet, clean, and relaxing. The grounds on the hotel need some work, my room was not very clean, the lights on the bathroom and sink were not working, there is no cable and the DVD/Video player was broken and in very poor condition. Given the island location of the hotel, it is understandable that the maintenence and accessibility to restaurants, food stores and other activities are EXTREMELY limitted, however, it should be stated so one can be best prepared. I would totally stay there again, however, i would need to be better prepared, I expected the hotel to have food service, or a little store for food. I think that for one person and to relax is the pefect place. Just bring food and other immediate needs (a movie?). I would also go if I had a group of friends to come with me.

This hotel is wonderful if you just want to get away from it all. Molokai itself is a quite island, Kaluakoi is even more peaceful. Staying at this hotel allows you to slow down and have a chance to appreciate all the stars in the sky. This is the place to come to be alone or escape because there is nothing out there but sand, sea and stars. If you do decide to stay make sure to stop in town to get groceries and provisions.

there was only one concern with the unit that i stay in, and that is the security of the front door. the inside door handle was not working properly and there was no other security latch or deadbolt on the door. aside from that everything was good.
