A short guide to Kailua-Kona

Kailua-Kona is the epicenter of shopping and recreation on Hawaii’s western shore. Big-game fishers delight off its waters, while shoppers reel in deals along Alii Drive. The Kailua-Kona area is a hiker’s paradise because many of its best beaches are accessible only by foot. Inland, the scent of coffee permeates the air as plantations harvest precious Kona beans. Nearby coffee farms open for tours.

Description

Location. Conveniently located on the sunny Kona coast, this spacious condo resort is situated just three miles from historic Kailua-Kona village and one mile from Kahaluu Beach Park. Castle Kona Bali Kai, a Condominium Resort sits on Banyans Beach on the Big Island of Hawaii. This condominium resort is ideally situated between historic Kailua-Kona town and the world famous Kona Country Club Course. Much of the allure of the Big Island is its contrasting geology. Active volcanoes, shimmering waterfalls, snowcapped mountains, tropical rainforests, a glacial lake and miles upon miles of golden, black, white and even green-sand beaches occupy an area smaller than the state of Connecticut. Plenty of recreational pursuits are available, including snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, kayaking, golfing and parasailing.

Features. The narrow lawn bordering the property is shaded by coconut palms and features lounge chairs for relaxing in the sun, picnic tables and three barbeque grills incorporated into the landscape for casual oceanfront dining. The resort features an outdoor pool flanked by a sundeck and a jetted tub. Guest laundry facilities and a convenience store are located on site, and there is a shop that rents snorkeling equipment and boogie boards.

Hotel Rooms. The resort offers oceanfront and mountainside accommodations, all featuring tropical décor rattan furnishings. Other amenities include in-room safes, dial-up Internet access, cable television and VCRs.

Expert Tip.

Expert Tip. On the other side of the island visitors can experience one of Hawaii's most scenic waterfalls, Akaka Falls, via a paved path that loops through a rainforest. Fantastic views of the 442-foot falls and of nearby Kahuna Falls can be found at the observation point.
