Recent Makena Beach Golf Review: "Our family loved this resort! Our oceanfront room afforded a stunning view of the hotels beach and we fell asleep to the sound of waves. We were awakened by the happy chattering of Minah birds. On the way to a generous breakfast buffet we were greeted by the numerous koi fish in the atrium who swam up when they saw us. A wild heron stood still as a  statue in his pursuit of the smaller fish. The beach is separated from others by lava rock on either end so it feels very private. There were but a few people and the snorkeling was wonderful. We were fortunate to be joined by a giant sea turtle who stayed close to us and seemed to enjoy our company. On the second day we headed down to the beach at 6am and boarded a catamaran for Molokini. We tried Snuba and the kids liked it so much that when we returned to the hotel we arranged for scuba lessons. Our hotel appointed instructor was great and in no time we entered the ocean right from our beach and immediately found a turtle resting in the coral beneath us. The staff was so friendly and accommodating that we felt very welcomed. We will definitely return to this hotel."

    Hotel Features
    A corridor of oleander and blossom-laden trees leads to an open-air lobby. The atrium lobby is embellished with Asian-inspired gardens, waterfalls and streams. Six resort dining options include Molokini Bar and Grille that specializes in contemporary island cuisine. Hakone sushi bar serves traditional Japanese cuisine while Café Kiowai prepares buffet-style and à la carte breakfasts at a glass-sheltered, garden-view terrace. The Makena Clubhouse overlooks the 10th hole at the Makena South Golf Course. Wireless Internet access is available for a fee. A total of 65,000 square feet of outdoor function space combines with 7,000 square feet of indoor space to accommodate events of up to 350 people. Recreational amenities include an outdoor saltwater pool, a children's pool, a spa tub and a limited-hour fitness center equipped with two massage tables, and cardiovascular and weight-training equipment. The resort's 18-hole championship golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Six tennis courts are located adjacent to the golf courses. The Keiki Club children's program offers supervised activities for children ages five through 12.

    Recreation

    Part of the 1,800-acre Makena Resort, the 17-acre Makena Beach and Golf Resort hugs a crescent of beach with calm ocean waters. Water-sports equipment rentals are available, including kayak tours, outrigger canoe rides, and paddle boards; a 46-foot catamaran (surcharge) sails from the beach to Molokini Islet, where some of Maui's best snorkeling can be found.

    On-site facilities include an outdoor splash pool, children's pool, and spa tub. A fitness center provides free weights, strength-training equipment, and cardiovascular machines such as an elliptical trainer, stair machine, and treadmill.

    The resort is home to an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Golf facilities include a driving range, putting green, and pro shop.
