| This Marriott property is in a GREAT location on Maui, has a fantastic pool - good for couples or families. LOTS to do nearby. We selected an ocean front King Suite and could not have been happier. Our room was modern, updated, CLEAN, and comfortable with 2 HUGE lanais (we had one off the master bedroom AND off the living room). Nice well stocked/well thought out kitchenette, FREE laundry facilities available, plasma TVs with DVD players, etc. Overall, a GREAT resort!!! |

| We had never been to Maui before and I booked at the Marriott after reading good reviews on Trip Advisor and wanting a 1 bedroom apartment. The rates were steeper than what we paid even for a 1 bedroom at the Trump tower in Waikiki but the contrast was stark. Having never been to Maui before, we didn't realise that this part of Maui is purely resorts - think 8 story high strip of resorts and nothing else but excluding the atmosphere that such an environment conjures up in Waikiki. So that part was my fault for not doing enough research on the area and I want to warn others. If you're after some beautiful beaches and to steer clear of masses of holiday makers conjuring around pools and average restaurants, stay away from K'aanapali beach and the towns just north of there. Instead, head to the north side and stay somewhere along the road to Hana or alternatively, if you want seriously upmarket, around Waimea is nice (in a Truman show kind of way).
About the Marriott though - the pool is great and had a fantastic pirate ship with slides for our 3 year old as well as a larger slide and lots of room for the masses of people so you never felt too crowded in. The room however was terrible. For that much money I expect something better than old green carpet and horrid furniture. There was a side view of the beach (apparently a 'full beach view') from the bedroom and it was perfectly clean but all in all, not somewhere that I'd recommend. The staff were however very helpful (excluding the guy who was part of the 'welcome pack' committee who didn't seem to have the time to tell me anything about local activities, the area or directions). All in all, happy with the service and the pool, disappointed with the room and the resort area. Kind of reminded me of Orlando but by a nice beach. |

| was already there and wanted to stay one more night. When I went to check out at 10 am they told me they already had my new room available
the room is a studio with a microwave and dorm room refrig
They have tons of great gas grills near all 3 pools.
Pool bar wasn't overly pricey but happy hr was from 10 am to 11 am. Also if you want a space pool side be down there by 6: 30 am to place towels on the seats u want...by 7 am its hard to find anything to lay in.
Very nice fitness center also |
