| Extremely pleasant. Better than all other resorts except perhaps the Four Seasons, but the Mauna Lani grounds are absolutely uniquely marvelous with sprawling fish ponds and walking areas. Tennis courts are nearby and overall, there's a lovely airy feeling at the resort. Abundant sea turtles feeding at the waters edge at many times throughout the day!
The southern most coves have outstanding snorkeling spots and a short drive to "49 Black-sand beach" is worthwhile for an early snorkeling. Dinner at the Canoe House is top-notch!. Highly recommended over the Fairmont Orchid, which is not as glamorous. Stay here and drive to Four Seasons for lunches or dinner!
The island is a Lava desert and the Mauna Lani is one of the best oasis on the island: certainly the Kohala Coasts' finest. |

| The hotel is really good. However some things can be improved. For instance, the breakfast is expensive and the food is not up to the level you get in other resorts. For the price of the breakfast I expected more. Also, the location is a bit inconvenient which makes the cost of the hotel not as worth it. There is absolutely nothing around the hotel except for a small shopping center that belongs to the hotel area. |
