Recent Naniloa Volcanoes Resort Review: "I origonally tried to stay at this hotel at the same time the earthquake hit Japan. I had to evacuate the hotel when the resulting tsunami hit Hawaii. I ended up having to spend the night in my car! To say the least I was not a happy person that night. I gave this hotel a 2nd chance last week and was not only just given an room upgrade. I was given a room on the top floor overlooking the entire bay which was a wonderful view. When checking in the person at the front desk also made sure to point out that if I hurried up to my room I could see the cruise ship leaving port. Which I did and was something you don't get to see very often. This is a older hotel as they all are in Hilo, however the rooms are large and have been completely remodeled. The quality of the room is closer to a 3 or 4 star hotel. The only thing I think this hotel is lacking is a restaraunt/bar however there is a general store/deli in the parking lot of the hotel next door if you need a drink or a quick bite to eat."
