Recent Naniloa Volcanoes Review: "Booked this room at a great rate but did not expect it to be much. We were blown away by the beautiful tile throughout the room. Great view of the ocean and wonderful staff. We will be stopping back on our next trip to Hilo. The only thing missing was a hot tub."

Hilo has few hotels. For the amount I paid I expected something a bit less than a Holiday Inn. That's what I got. They are still renovating and it shows at the hotel. The rooms are rather bare with an oddly textured set of sheets. However, the rooms are very clean and the staff are friendly. The Hilo Hawaiian next door may be worth the extra $30-40 a night, but I cannot say for sure. If you will be out all day playing at the volcanoes and going snorkeling it really isn't a bad choice. If you want nicer places I would suggests Kona or a Bed and Breakfast. Also, unless you want to go the volcanoes, I owuld suggest Oahu. Slightly more toursity but a lot more beaches and things to do and see including snorkeling, hiking, beaches, and tours. Plus great hotels.

This was the reason all was not to par, in fact if I had known of the renovations I would not have stayed there. Extending one night acommadations proved to be a chore for the front desk since I actually was book with a gap of one day for my stay. This made for an uncomfortable stay with uncertainty of having to move due to booking.

The hotel was undergoing a renovation, so not everything was up to par. However, all the floors including those leading in and within the rooms were tile. This caused for a lot of noise to echo through the hallway into the room I was staying in. I was never able to sleep past 7 am as there were a barrage of noises from other guests closing their doors, rolling their luggage, babies crying, etc. The hotel would do well to nullify the noise and prevent such from coming into the rooms.

the hotel is under renovations so you will hear the work going on in the course of the day. We basically used the hotel just to sleep in. It was centrally located for the Hilo side of the island. Our room was great with floor to ceiling windows(and sliding glass doors led out to the balcony)on two sides of the room. The view was beautiful to the ocean and the harbor. I would stay there again, just for the room.

The room was sparse and not very well appointed. Meaning there was no comfortable chair to sit and read in or any accessory light to do work by. The built-in desk was poorly lit. Coffee pot was provided but no coffee, sugar, creamer to use with the pot. Had to search for ice. we were on the 3rd floor and the ice machine was on floor 7. Microwave in room to use with what?

At first sight, the hotel is in great need of a facelift . . . which we learned that it was in the process of getting. Once inside the room we found it to be clean and comfortable - could have used a couple rugs on the tile floor . . . Only complaint - everything echoed . . . people walking down the hall, your neighbor flushing the toilet . . . Other plus-es: close to the airport, great view of the ocean, and friendly and helpful staff.

The pool leaves a great deal to be desired. Great room for the price we paid. Renovations that were underway while we were there will hopefully improve the hotel. Our overall satisfaction was good because it close to Volcano National Park which was our reason for staying here.

The hotel is still under renovation, but the room we had was newly renovated. Great room, clean, great garden view. From the outside the hotel looks old but when you walk into your room it is worth it. Make sure you request a renovated room or you will end up with an old room.

Although I was initially a little taken aback by the appearance of the exterior of the hotel, I reassessed the age of the hotel and the way the current economy is. For the price that we paid for our stay, and considering the comfort and cleanliness of the room, we truly felt that we got a good deal for our stay. The staff were courteous and accommodating and that in itself is a real plus. The beauty of the island and ocean was truly breathtaking and we enjoyed taking it all in. We did enjoy our stay and would definitely consider staying at the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort again in the future.
