A short guide to Kaanapali

Kaanapali is a prime vantage point for viewing humpback whales, which swim by December to May. The town’s whaling history is displayed at Whaler’s Village, a shopping complex and museum. Visitors also can experience the area’s farming past by riding the Sugar Cane Train, a restored steam locomotive. Snorkelers and divers can enjoy the coral reefs and fish that thrive in nearby Black Rock Beach.

Recreation

A sundeck houses a freeform splash pool, four barbecue grills, and a poolside cabana that can be rented for private parties. Guests also enjoy two lighted tennis courts, a Ping-Pong table, shuffleboard, and a fitness center with free weights, cardiovascular and weight machines, and a sauna.

The Royal Kahana is adjacent to a sandy swimming beach, and whale watching is available in winter. The five championship golf courses of the Kapalua and Kaanapali Resorts are within three miles.
