| This was our first stay in a "resort" of any kind. For the rate we got, we were amazed at everything in our room - from W/D to a rice cooker, to steak knives! We had our own private balcony, a bar, and two bathrooms. Everything was well maintained and of good to high quality. The only complaint was the carpets were a smidge dirty and we were yet again put in a room with 2 double beds (how victorian!) instead of a queen or king. In the choice between uncomfortable sleep together and comfortable sleep apart, comfort won out. :-/
But otherwise, it's a lovely location, not close to a whole lot other than other resorts, but that's just the area it's in.
One money saving tip - there is a grocery store just outside of the resort area, so there is no need to visit the overpriced King's shops to get food. |

| We had a 2 bedroom suite and found it perfect for 4 adults and one child. In general the kitchen was well outfitted, although it could use a large frying pain. Rooms were spacious and clean. the lanai large and protected from weather. A good buy. |

| We went on vacation with our entire family and had a wonderful time. The pool is excellent for children, not too deep so we could let them go alone. The kitchen is a little tiny but enough room to move around. Excellent customer service and satisfaction. |

| My husband and I travel for business and have stayed in the Waikoloa area several times. We felt that the ResortQuest condo was a great alternative to a hotel. Loved having room to stretch out in (we had a one bedroom unit) and the kitchen was a nice convenience, even if you only use the microwave and fridge. All the units are individually owned so the unit type/amenities does variy. This is an older property and faucets/fixtures could use updating but the two units we stayed in were very clean and everyhing worked perfectly. The property is gated and well maintained inside and out. 3 floors and yes, there are elevators. The bedding isn't as plush as that found at the higher end hotels and room service isn't available. Ocean views are not offered but the grounds are very nice and having convenient and free parking was a welcome trade. Very friendly and helpful check-in staff available till 11pm, after which time the security staff handles late arrivals. |

| We stayed at 3 separate locations on our 9 day trip to the Big Island. We chose ResortQuest Shores at Waikoloa for our last night as it was close to the airport, much more so than our previous night's stay in Volcano. What a complete disappointment.
These places appear to have been built in the 80s and nearly everything in unit#103 appeared original. The appliances were old and outdated, the cheap plastic vertical blinds in every room (probably the cheapest on the market when they were new in 1980) offered little in the way of privacy, the outdoor furniture was old, the dated, stained and cracked yellow tiles on the countertops told a story of how much use the place had seen, the kitchen and bath fixtures were anchient, even the TV was old and had a cracked cabinet, probably a result of having once hit the ground. The owner(s) seem not only uninterested in renovating, they're apparently also uninterested in basic repairs.
Additional issues included dark particles and rust in the ice from the icemaker. While it was only ice, which was free, this did contaminate the contents of our drinks which were not. And who knows how much of this we ingested before it was noticed. Additionally, the carpet was old and frazzled in places and the fabric on the dining set was disgustingly filthy.
Unit# 103 provided a disappointing finale to an otherwise enjoyable 9-day trip to the Big Island.
We will never return to ResortQuest Shores. |
